How Cloudy Skies Can Affect Your Photos
featuredPublished May 9, 2011 at 9:23 pm No CommentsUnless it rains, clouds in the sky are actually a wonderful thing in photography! During the middle of the day, clouds can act as a giant softbox, to diffuse the light. So instead of harsh shadows and raccoon eyes on your subjects, shadows are much softer. Also, depending on how thick the clouds are, they can lessen the chances of getting the people in your pictures with squinty eyes.
In the morning or at sunset, you should be really happy if you get cloudy skies. You may get some interesting colors showing up in the clouds. Every so often, you can get some awesome purple, orange and blue!
Next time you’re planning on taking pictures or having your picture taken, remember that you WANT cloudy skies!
